The Youth Advocacy Council (YAC), a project of HFTX, empowers San Antonio area teens to become leaders of change in their community regarding sexual health education and teen pregnancy prevention through civic participation at the local and state level. Healthy Futures of Texas is currently seeking teens who are interested in being a part of the Youth Advocacy Council. The deadline to apply is June 18, 2018.

8th Annual Public Health Camp @ UTHealth School of Public Health in San Antonio
Jun 18 – Jun 22 all-day

COME EXPLORE EXCITING CAREERS IN PUBLIC HEALTH!

Activities include…
-Presentations by public health professors and health professions students
-Daily field trips and hands-on activities
-uccess tips for college applications to health care careers!

Why should you attend? You will…
-Explore public health careers
-Discover how public health affects you and your community from experts in the field
-Learn about health promotion and disease prevention
-Make new friends!

Spaces are LIMITED – Registration begins Monday, February 5, 2018 and ends on Friday, June 1,
2018

Who can attend? High School Students entering 10th, 11th & 12th for the 2018-2019 school year.

Is there a fee? No. It’s FREE! Meals will also be included for the campers.

Join Boy With A Ball San Antonio (BWABSA) as they connect with the San Antonio community and build stronger neighborhoods through the LoveYourCity BWABSA Project.

Any and all skills are welcomed and celebrated! You must be at least 15 years old and go through a 3 hour orientation/training.

The LoveYourCity BWABSA takes place Saturday mornings at 11:00 AM

Central Market Cooking School (Ages 8-14) KIDS CAMP: Tex-Mex Classics @ Central Market

This event costs $50.00 and is for ages 8 to 14 years old.
Become familiar with some of the most common ingredients and perfect your techniques in this introduction to Tex-Mex cooking. Menu Includes:
Chips & Guacamole;
Cheese Enchiladas with Chili Gravy;
Mexican Rice & Refried Beans; and
Sopapillas with Cinnamon-Orange Syrup.

INSTRUCTOR: CM Cooking School Staff

Children should dress with safety in mind. Completely closed shoes, shirts with a three-quarter sleeve or sleeves that can be rolled up, long pants and long hair tied back.
Children must be accompanied by an adult to the registration area for the class and will not be released from the room until signed out by an adult. A responsible party must sign a release for each child registered for classes.

Central Market Cooking School (Ages 8-14) KIDS CAMP: French Favorites @ Central Market

This event costs $50.00 and is for ages 8 to 14 years old.
Tour the Central Market Cheese Department, learn a little about the styles of cheeses and the milks that go into them, and then select your favorite to create: Mini vegetable & Cheese quiche; chicken cordon bleu(with ham & cheese); and handmade crepes filled with fresh strawberries and sweet cheese.

INSTRUCTOR: CM Cooking School Staff

Students should be dressed with safety and comfort in mind. For hands-On classes please wear closed-toe shoes and shirts with fitted sleeves, and remove any jewerly. Long hair should be pulled back. To avoid being charged the full price of the class, cancellations must be made at least four days before the day of the class.
